You may also turn them in on May 26 and 27 in front of the Columbus High School Auditorium from 3pm to 5pm (drive-thru style just as you did when you received them). ALL devices must be received by May 27.

Columbus ISD Closed for the Remainder of School Year

The Texas Education Agency has provided school districts with guidance on what is required for students during school closures due to COVID-19. Even though students will not be able to go to their school’s campus, learning will continue through remote learning via Google Classroom, or the picking up of physical packets from your child’s campus. This will continue in accordance with the CISD school calendar until the last day of school. Columbus ISD invites you to check the COVID-19 resource page on the District’s website for updates and additional
information by clicking "Read full story".
Remember, apart we stand together and together we are C-Town Strong! Go Cards!

Technology Schedule

Columbus ISD is continuing to monitor the current COVID-19 situation. We are working on determining how many of our families are in need of a device, so their children can do their work online. If you have not yet completed the technology survey on our website, please do so. We will provide one Chromebook per family, for those families who do not have a smart phone, iPad, laptop, Chromebook or desk top computer. All families who will need a device will pick them up in front of the High School Campus.

The schedule will be as follows:
High School – Thursday Morning 9:00-11:00
Junior High – Thursday Afternoon 1:00-3:00
Elementary School – Friday Morning 9:00-11:00

This pick-up time is ONLY for families without a device. We are in the process of buying some mobile hotspots, but they will not be here for 2-3 weeks.

To the Parents and Guardians:

To Parents / Guardians of Columbus ISD Students:

First of all we want to thank you for your support during these trying times. We will roll out instruction tomorrow for our students who are taking Advanced Placement classes, this does not include Pre-AP courses. Our students who are taking Dual Credit courses with Blinn Junior College will be on the Blinn schedule. Here is what we know about Blinn: Blinn instructors will have weekly assignments posted on eCampus by 8:00 a.m., Monday morning. You will need to complete your assignments online. You also need to check your myBlinnaccounts.

We were able to get a small number of teachers trained with Google Classroom and an app for your device called "Nearpod". Nearpod is free for students, and we welcome you to go ahead and download this ap. We started with a small group, because we wanted to work out any potential problems prior to rolling this out district wide. We hope to have everyone on board by Thursday of this week. We need a couple of days for our small group to find problems. For students who do not have a device or internet, we will be issuing devices to those students on a schedule that will be published Monday, March 23, 2020. If your student has a device but no internet, we have made the internet accessible by parking in one of our campus parking lots. For more information on where to park please go to our website and look at the map. If a student doesn't get a device, or has no way to get to our campuses for internet, we will make work packets and will schedule when to pass them out. We will have more instructions for you tomorrow with more of a set schedule.

During this week we will train teachers online, as we cannot have more than 10 people in an area. I know this is a trying time, please bear with us as we do our best to put the most effective plan in place for your child. The administration is monitoring the COVID-19 situation very closely. We have daily contact with the Commissioner of Education, weekly contact with the Executive Director of the Region 3 Education Service Center and daily meetings with each other.
